SUMMARY:2015/16 PA Days at the Workers Arts & Heritage Centre
DESCRIPTION:Want to provide your child with some fun\, unique learning experiences that connect the arts with the culture and history of working people in Canada? Look no further than our popular PA Day programs! Our full day camps are facilitated by professional artists and educators\, and include a wholesome lunch and snacks throughout the day. \nNovember 27th\, 2015\, 9-4 pm     Wordless Mini-Comics with Amy Egerdeen      \nTaking inspiration from the graphic art of Tania Willard in our anniversary exhibition 20/20: Vision/Hindsight\, kids will learn to tell stories using only images\, and make short wordless mini-comics about work and workers to keep and trade! \nJanuary 29th\, 2016     Monumental Mash-Up with Marie-Camille Lalande      \nThrough photography\, drawing\, collage\, sculpture (and a bit of acting)\, kids will build a monumental statue that will honour the heroes in their own communities. \nFebruary 26th\, 2016     Masks\, Improv and Movement with Jody Boston     \nDrawing from WAHC’s collection of masks and parade props\, performance artist educator Jody Boston will lead improvisation and movement exercises that encourage kids to foster their creative instincts. Through exploration of character development and story building we will bring masks to life. \nJune 10th\, 2016     Assembling a Future City with Matt McInnes      \nUsing drawing\, printmaking and found objects\, participants will decide what elements make up the city of the future! Taking inspiration from worker’s assembly lines and working collaboratively\, kids will think about preserving people\, places and things that already make their city great\, as well as things that they would like to add to make a good city even better. \n  \nFor ages 6-12; pre-registration is required. Admission for each PA Day session is $20. Subsidized spots are available—no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. For more information or to register\, download and fill out out a registration form (doc and pdf formats) or contact Tara Bursey\, Program Coordinator at (905) 522-3003 ex. 29 or tara@wahc-museum.ca. \nPA Days at WAHC are made possible through the generous support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
