SUMMARY:Help Hamilton Kids Learn\, Explore and Connect to their History
DESCRIPTION:Help us bring the knitting machine program and our new school visits to even more students next year! \nStarting in September\, WAHC will officially launch a new school visits program that allows students of all ages to explore important labour and social justice issues through experiential learning. A key element of this new program is our beautifully refurbished mid-20th century knitting machine. The machine\, which has been restored to working condition by incredibly skilled volunteers Anna Zygowski and Edmund Zygowski\, was originally donated by a local family.  The family made the donation in honour of their mother who used it to support her family through much of the 1950s and 60s. Through this new program\, visiting students will be able to better understand and appreciate the working lives of many of their grandmothers and great-grandmothers. \nFrom now until June 30th\, we will raise $3\,000 to ensure we have enough money for yarn\, regular maintenance\, and an artist and interpreter for school groups.  It also means\, we can think ahead to other programs like a Saturday morning youth knitting club or PA day programs that help bring working history alive for kids. \nTogether\, we can make sure this beautifully restored machine continues to be in the hands of kids from all over Hamilton.
