SUMMARY:Labour Day Weekend at WAHC
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day of free programming that considers the impact of precarious work on our lives\, community\, and organizing. We’ll begin with an interactive walking tour of Downtown Hamilton followed by slam poetry workshop at the Workers Arts & Heritage Centre. \nInteractive Walking Tour from 11 am – 12 pm \nAir BnB\, food delivery\, ride-sharing\, Etsy\, babysitting\, how do you engage with the gig economy? Bring your experiences to this walking tour of Downtown Hamilton that weaves together the old and new by visiting historic sites which tell stories of past precarity and connects them to contemporary tales of getting by in hard times. The walking tour begins at 51 Stuart Street at 11 am and will conclude at Lister Block\, 28 James St N. \nSlam Poetry Workshop from 2 pm – 4 pm \nCreated and facilitated by Hamilton Youth Poets’ Eddie Lartey\, this will be a powerful afternoon of poetry and storytelling as we explore the impact that precarious work conditions have on our lives.
