DESCRIPTION:Join author\, Craig Heron\, for the launch of Lunch-Bucket Lives: Remaking the Workers’ City at WAHC.  And then help us celebrate 20 years at WAHC with the launch of a new\, Workers’ City app.\n \nPublished by Between the Lines\, Lunch-Bucket Lives takes the reader on a bumpy ride through the history of Hamilton’s working people from the 1890s to the 1930s. It ambles along city streets\, peers through kitchen doors and factory windows\, marches up the steps of churches and fraternal halls\, slips into saloons and dance halls\, pauses to hear political speeches\, and\, above all\, listens for the stories of men\, women\, youths\, and children from families where people relied mainly on wages to survive. \nStay to celebrate the launch of WAHC’s new\, Workers’ City app.  Almost 20 years after the launch of the Workers’ City walking tour booklets\, WAHC is re-launching the tours as a free interactive app.  This interactive tool presents the rich working and industrial past of Hamiltonians in all its breadth – at home\, in the workplace\, in the community. Trace the growth of Hamilton industry through the eyes of its workers.  Explore archival photographs\, stories and oral interviews that tell the working histories of Hamilton’s historic buildings\, streets\, parks\, and neighbourhoods – all at the touch of a button on your smart phone or tablet. \nThe Workers’ City app has been made possible by funding from the Government of Ontario\, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada\, and Wilfrid Laurier University.  Lunch Bucket-Lives was published with the help of a grant from the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences\, through the Awards to Scholarly Publications Program\, using funds provided by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
