A solo exhibition by Anahí González
Para Ayer/Due Yesterday explores the urgency that shapes labour within trade and production networks connecting Mexico and Canada. The title comes from a common expression in Mexican workplaces: para ayer (“due yesterday”), a phrase used when something is expected immediately—as if it should have been finished yesterday.
Through photography, installation, and participatory works, González examines how trade agreements, supply chains, and cross-border industries shape the conditions that make urgency part of everyday work. The exhibition traces these conditions through the demands for speed, mobility of goods and people, and the continuous availability of labour that keeps systems of production running.
Anahí González is a Mexican photographer and artist based in London, Ontario. Through photography, installation, and participatory practices, she explores migration, labour, identity, and everyday systems of exchange, with a focus on Mexican labour for/within Canada. She holds a Doctorate in Art and Visual Culture from Western University, with previous studies in Canada, Mexico, and Spain. In 2021, she received Mexico’s Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte grant, Jóvenes Creadores program. Her work has been exhibited and screened across Canada, Mexico, the United States, Norway, Spain, and France.

Saturday November 28, 1-4 PM | Natural Pigment Making with Michelle Peraza Participants will learn how to make pigments with soil and have the opportunity to paint with the natural pigments on fabric patches. Registration required.
