SUMMARY:Second Saturdays
DESCRIPTION:SECOND SATURDAYS ARE BACK! \nOctober 8   |   November 12   |   December 10 \nJoin us on the Second Saturday of October\, November and December from 1-4pm for FREE Family drop-in fun at the museum with artist\, activist and musician Becky Katz! All children must be supervised by an adult. \nTour the galleries\, make art\, listen to music and play! \nBecky Katz is an artist\, activist\, experimental musician\, Art Education Facilitator\, and Community Arts Practitioner based in Hamilton. Becky dabbles in many disciplines\, and fancies herself a post-medium artist whose practice cannot be pigeon-holed. Becky is the co-founder and Artistic Director of Strangewaves Music Festival\, and has worked for Centre[3] for Artistic & Social Practice for the past 13 years\, Becky involves herself in numerous creative endeavours that have a particular focus on collaboration\, and shine a spotlight on the peculiarities of human nature. \n\nSaturday\, October 8:  “Where Did I Come From?” \nIn this hands-on workshop\, kids and caregivers will use printmaking to think critically about everyday objects. Families will consider how common objects make their way to us through the actions of working people. An object and its journey will become inspiration for printed works of art! \n\nSaturday\, November 12:  DIY Soundtracks \nWant to try making your own instruments and recording your own sounds? Families will use the art in The Future of Work: Letters to Land and Water as inspiration for making their own simple instrument out of everyday materials. \nFor the second half of the workshop\, families will combine their handmade instruments with electronic ones with Becky’s help\, and make a land and water-inspired “soundtrack” for our exhibition. \n\nSaturday\, December 10:  A Banner Day \nSpeak your mind with art! Families will use the banners on view at WAHC as inspiration for making their own banners out of felt\, fabric\, and paint. \nQuestions? Email Tara Bursey\, Executive Director at tara@wahc-museum.ca or call 905 522 3003 x 23 \n\nSecond Saturdays are made possible through the generous support of CUPE National. WAHC wishes to acknowledge the Ontario Arts Council\, the City of Hamilton\, the Province of Ontario\, CUPE\, the Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario\, the Canada Council for the Arts\, OSSTF\, and ONA for their support of our exhibitions and programs.
