Join Between the Lines Press and author Stephen Dale in WAHC’s Main Gallery on Wednesday, October 20th from 6:00-8:00 pm as we celebrate the publication of Stephen’s book Shift Change: Scenes from a Post-industrial Revolution.

Shift Change asks readers to look critically at the intersections of industry, economic investment, and the social fabric of Hamilton during a critical moment as the city moves from one era and towards another.

Between the Lines Press writes that “in Shift Change, author Stephen Dale sets up “the Hammer” as a battlefield, a laboratory, a chessboard. As investors cash in on a real estate gold rush and the all-too-familiar wheels of gentrification begin to turn, there’s still a rare opportunity for both old-guard and newcomer Hamiltonians to come together and write a different story—one in which Steeltown becomes an economically diverse and inclusive urban centre for all.”

Stephen will be speaking at this event alongside guests Deirdre Pike and Richard Harris. Hamilton independent bookstore The City & The City Books will be onsite selling copies of Shift Change and other related books.

This event will be held in person in WAHC’s main gallery at the Custom House at 51 Stuart Street in Hamilton. There is free on-street parking on both sides of Stuart Street. WAHC is conveniently located 250 metres away from the West Harbour GO Station. WAHC is physically accessible for guests using wheelchairs or mobility devices.

There will be a maximum capacity of 45 people for this event and masks will be required indoors for attendees. Proof of vaccination and a valid ID will also be required for entry to the Custom House. Due to COVID protocols, no food or drink will be served during the event. Pre-registration is also required. Please register using the form below!
