Join us for a screening of the documentary Shift Change (Jefferson Lewis, 1985), produced by the National Film Board as part two of the five part series Reckoning: The Political Economy of Canada.

Shift Change focuses on the community of Hamilton steelworkers employed by Stelco, and the impact of the microchip and automation on the local steel industry in the mid-1980s.

This screening will by introduced by Stephen Lechniak, Stelco retiree and former member of the United Steelworkers Local 1005, who will relate the climate of work and workers at Stelco when the documentary was made 30 years ago to current events related to the local steel industry. After the screening, Stephen will walk visitors through his contributions of photography and printed matter to the Shuttered exhibition.

This screening is free of charge and all are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
