SUMMARY:Solidari-TEES: T-Shirts of the Labour Movement
DESCRIPTION:As articles of clothing associated with the working class\, t-shirts are vehicles of political and cultural communication through design\, image\, and text. Within the labour movement\, t-shirts help working people spread awareness about campaigns\, strikes\, and issues of concern. On a picket line or in a parade\, workers wearing t-shirts are a powerful symbol of solidarity and unity. This exhibition of t-shirts from our collection illustrates the preoccupations of workers\, their unions\, and allies. \nShare your own history while helping us to grow our t-shirt collection! Donate a shirt from your union local while this exhibition is on view. \n\nWAHC wishes to acknowledge the Ontario Arts Council\, the City of Hamilton\, the Province of Ontario\, CUPE National\, the Canada Council for the Arts\, Canada’s Building Trades Unions\, OPSEU/SEFPO and Teamsters Local Union 879 for their support of our exhibitions and ancillary programs. \n\n\n\n\n\nFor more information\, please contact Ada Bierling\, Programming and Exhibitions Specialist\, at (905) 522-3003 ex. 29 or ada@wahc-museum.ca
