SUMMARY:Where There Is Smoke Live Listening Party
DESCRIPTION:Join us Tuesday January 19th at 7pm for the Where There is Smoke Live Listening Party on Facebook. Red Dress Productions\, in partnership with the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre presents an immersive installation turned audio/video podcast featuring stories from women firefighters working during (and before) the COVID-19 pandemic. Where There Is Smoke paints a multi-dimensional portrait of firefighters with a diverse range of experiences and perspectives on being one (or a few) amongst many.  \nIn 2017\, Fire Service Women Ontario and Red Dress Productions facilitated The Women Firefighter Narrative Visibility Project which consisted of creative writing workshops for 35+ women firefighters in southern Ontario. The workshops culminated in an immersive video and audio installation that was exhibited at the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre the following year. In light of the pandemic\, two more workshops were hosted online in 2020 for women and non-binary firefighters across Canada which has resulted in a new 25-minute audio podcast that incorporates stories and experiences from firefighters on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. \nPlease join us for the Live Facebook Premiere as we listen to this new podcast together! \nRed Dress Productions Facebook page can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/reddressproductions \nThis event will be captioned.  \nRed Dress Productions is a Toronto arts organization that creates interdisciplinary\, community-engaged\, public art projects.  \nFire Service Women Ontario is a provincial\, member-driven organization whose mandate is to encourage\, promote and advance women in the fire service. \nWe would like to acknowledge the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Original Grant for generously supporting this program. \n  \n  \n
