SAM 26 is going to the movies this year!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we've postponed our traditional gala dinner in favour of a combo of smaller, safer gatherings still full of fun!

Join us Sunday, November 21 at 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm as we celebrate SAM 26 at the historic Playhouse Cinema in Hamilton. We will be screening two epic labour films: Pride at 4:00 pm and Peterloo at 7:00 pm. We will also be screening Monsters Inc. virtually online all weekend from Nov 19-21!

Pride
Pride tells the story of a courageous coalition of Welsh miners and London-based queer activists who join together to resist Margaret Thatcher, the police, and the conservative press during the 1984 miners’ strike.

Peterloo
Peterloo takes us back to 1819, when police charged a pro-democracy rally at St Peter's Field in Manchester, England, resulting in the Peterloo Massacre. This epic film is a moving portrait of brave political activists who were ahead of their time and risked it all.

Monsters Inc.
Join the hilarious monster duo Sculley and Mike Wazowski as they punch the clock scaring children to power their city, Monstropolis, in the wonderful movie Monsters Inc. Sulley’s life takes a sudden turn when the precocious young Boo follows him back through the closet door to Monsteroplis.

Tickets:

Tickets for Pride and Peterloo are $25 each and Monsters Inc. tickets are $15.

Each ticket purchase includes the movie of your choice, programme, and entry into the movie's raffle. One ticket holder from each film will win an awesome raffle package of local goodies! All proceeds will benefit the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre.
